Winter was upon us. I didn't have the oppertunity to visit the forest with sunshine. The day i grabbed my camera it was grey and sad(and cold).
With the above picture i try to show that feeling.
I called it '' Path to......''
You fill in the blanks.

Sunset, a bit to late....

And there was the snow. Unfortunately i didnt have much time to grab the D90 and go into nature.
Today my workday ended at 15.45, so in the dark morning around 6.30 i grabbed my gear and left for work. The idea was to go to ''Hoog Buurlo'' after work.
First i went to my love first to talk for 10 minutes and than i left for nature.
As the above picture illustrates i was in time, but to late. On my trip to Hoog Buurlo i could see a great sky. The sky was 3 times more colorful than as you can see in the photo above, ah well.
I will try again in the near future. Also no snow in this picture. I shot photos for like 10 minutes of the sunset and my hands were freezing by than. It was -10 degrees in an open place in the wind, so not that nice for my fingers, i couldnt control the shutter after 10 minutes out there.

Week contest GOT forums

A contest @ Gathering of Tweakers forum made me think over what i would compose for a good picture. In the end a visit to my mothers appartment gave me the picture i was looking for. The subject was ''light''. U are allowed to interpretate this subject wich i did.
2 candles is light, an Angel is enlightment, isnt it?
So there was the idea. Myself, i am kinda happy with the result.

Working with the 50mm

I shot this picture @ Alba. Wich is a place near my town were there used to be a factory. They gave it back to nature. I was trying to isolate the grass from the rest creating a small dof. I am not disappointed with this result, though it would have been nice if the grass was more sharp. It was a very windy day so even at this high shutterspeed i can see movement.
Shot info: iso 200/f4/1:1250/50mm, cropped and added a bit of contrast in Capture NX2.

50mm Prime

About 3 weeks ago i bought myself a second hand Nikor AF 50mm f1.8 D.
It came with a HS-9 Metal Lenshood and a Hoya Super Pro1 52mm UV[0]filter.
I was walking around with a moderate zoom lens since i bought the D90. So it was at first difficult getting used to using the zoom in my feet or backing up because i was to close. But i wanted to learn the use of a prime. The DOF/Bokeh it promised me was a real surprise. Getting a nice bokeh with the 18-105 was possible but with this prime it is amazing. Besides, it is way sharper from roughly f2.8 and up. So i am still in a steep learning curve but i think i am getting the first results i am looking for.

First Blog Entry

Today i decided to start a blog. Since September 2009 i decided to give myself a cam upgrade to a DSLR. After using a Panasonic FZ28 since february 2009 i really ran into it's limitations.

So i read and even read more about DSLR and after weeks of Canon vs Nikon, i decided on a Nikon D90. Of course no regrets there.
It came with the 18-105mm VR kitlens.

In following blog entries i will post pictures of the gear and pictures i have been taking since i have this beauty of a camera. For now included picture are my daughters hands. Needless to say that i love editing on the computer much to.
