At the moment the Vivitar 75-205 1:3.8 is my favourite lens. At 205mm @ f8 it is sharp and gives a good soft bokeh and almost macro. I love it!!
Enjoy these 2 pictures! Both were taken in my loves garden at 5 'o' clock midday with a bit of sun on 29th of april.
Shot info: Both iso 200 - f8 - 205mm - above 1/250 beneath 1/320.

New toy.....

Bought myself this Coolpix s3000. Why?
Well its handy smalland usefull.
Off course you can't compare it to a dslr, but for snapshots it's good enough.

Testing the new Vivitar.

New gear, new picture.
Got an optically not so good Vivitar Series 1 35-85mm 1:2.8. Should be a very decent lens back in the days. Well i am not disapointed. Due to visual scratches and coating not that good anymore i didnt expect much. But its turns out fairly good i guess. Maybe get a optically condition 'mint' in the future.

Dustcloud

On 14th of April a Volcano erupted in Iceland. Thursday the 15th the dustcloud passed north western europe. Due to this phenomenom the sunset could be much more spectacular than normally.
I went to one of my favourite places, Radio Kootwijk and shot some nice views. The above shows the colors.
Shot info: iso 200 - f8 - 1/160 - 105mm

Gerbera.

In my opinion a nice shot, not completely sharp due to a bit of motion. Well @ 205mm and 1/100 shutter speed what can i expect?!
I really love the Vivitar zooms. Off course CaptureNX has seen this one but not as much as you would think.
The 24mm Vivitar Prime is not that sharp, hard to get good focus at infinity setting.
Well for now bye.
Shot Info: iso 200 - f5.6 - 1/100 - 205mm.

The 70-150 Vivitar is so warm in colors...love it

Nice and warm colors in this picture.
The Vivitar 70-150 turns out to be a really warm lens, editing did not involve any color editing just levels contrast en brightness.

iso 200 - f4 - 1/160 - 150mm

Adding a picture...

Vivitar 75-205mm 1:3.8 macro focussing zoom.

vrijdag 2 april 2010

iso 200 - f8 - 1/125 - 24mm Vivitar f2.8
iso 200 - f8 - 1/500 - 150mm --> Vivitar 70-150mm

Two 'new' Manual Focus Lenses.

Been a while since i was here.
Have been a busy boy, work, life etc.
As title says i aquired 2 new lenses.
Vivitar 24mm 1:2.8
Vivitar 75-205mm 1:3.8 macro focussing zoom

Both came in at a very decent pricetag. I like the angle the 24mm gives me. Makes me think about getting a 20/24/28mm AF prime Nikon lens in the future or a 12-24mm zoom(tokina perhaps).

The 75-205mm i just got. It's a big mofo. Looks as if it's new. Will test it soon.
In the next post i will show 2 pictures, one is with 24mm and one is with 70-150. Both i think are good shots.

Well for now...Hapy easter people.

Well first try with the 100mm. Not much light as you can see, was a bit dark outside and just one light on my desk, turned out to be a nice shot anyhow!
Off course CaptureNX has seen this one, levels needed a bit of straightening and B&W conversion.
Shot info: iso 200 - f2.8 - 1/100 - 100mm.

Manual Focus again: Nikon E Series 100mm f2.8.

Addicted as i have become to Manual Focus lenses this week the third arrived.
The Panagor was nice, The Vivitar a surprise. This one, a Nikon E series 100mm f2.8 is a winner.
Got it on a nice deal, tested a bit and so far i am very happy with it.
Doing my homework i will add 2 links to information about this lens.

http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/emfgfg20/eserieslenses/htmls/100135mm.htm

Well, seems this is a nice lens indeed.
Will post a first edited photo in next blog message.

For now, Bye Bye/

Orchid 2

Following the other blog from today a black and white form the orchid series.
Shot info: iso 200 - f8 - 1/125 - 150mm

The manual focus lenses really are a learnig curve, but i like working with them. It gives full control at what i want to do. Still i think metering is a plus, maybe one day a d300 or d700 or......
Besides hunting @ marktplaats is fun also.

For now till next entry!
Cheers Peter.

Orchid

I really love the Vivitar. I made a serie at my love's house. There is a growing orchid in the window where it catches it's sunlight. Above you can see an edit in color.

Manual focussing

The Vivitar 70-150mm f3.8 manual focussing zoom turns out to be a very sharp lens, espacially when stopped down to f5.6 and above.
This object sits in my kitchen, in the window. I like the colors, the DOF and the sharpness.
What more can i wish for, the lens changed owners for 25 euro's.
Ok one wish, A D300 or above because my D90 doesn't meter the light and makes me do testshots, but in time my guess for shuttertimes will improve(i hope).
Shot Info: iso 200 - f8 - 1/100 - between 70-150mm (really can't remember).

Next to this i started using border for my shots, at first i didn't like a border much, but after some experimenting, it's nice!
i use Bordermaker 4.1, free and handy.

Manual Focus again.

Today i received my second Manual Focus lens.
It is a Vivitar 70-150mm 1:3.8 macro focussing zoom.
Well macro, focus minimal distance is 90 cm, so not real macro.
Got this through marktplaats, just like the Panagor.
Looks good, didnt test it yet.
Results will follow.

Reflections

Reflections. An experimental shot.
Not to unhappy with the result myself.
I like the colors inside compared to the white outside seen in the reflection.
Shot Info: iso 200 - f8 - 1/50 - 38mm

zaterdag 6 februari 2010

Shot this picture at my love's house at night.
I like the straight lines and the bend reflections of the hall in the vase.
Shot info: iso 200 - f8 - 6sec - 92mm

maandag 1 februari 2010

Yesterday i went to ''Radio Kootwijk''.
It was a sunny day and i took the D90 with me to work. After work i drove to Kootwijk on a icy road.
The picture above is the last one i shot before i went back home, stone cold....
Edited a bit in Capture NX2, only contrast and brightness and i cropped it a bit.
Shot info: iso 200 - f22 - 1/100 - 50mm

Another contest @ Tweakers.net.
This 2 week assignment was ''art''.
So i went out and shot the above photo. Edited in Capture NX2.
This is the result.
Shot info: iso 400 - 1/160 - f4 - 50mm

vrijdag 22 januari 2010

Usually i don't use flash. I did in this photo.
Result is quite nice in my opinion, detailed.
Also the DOF is ok.
So i am happy with the result.
The grip is being a great add on, also on this picture it was
on the camera and it won't be coming off soon i guess.
Shot info: iso 200 - f5.6 - 1/60 -105mm

woensdag 13 januari 2010

After my purchase of the grip i went to a place near my home to take some pictures of the deserted hospital. The sun was just starting to find it's way through the clouds.
So i aimed and shot the above picture.
I came home stone cold freezing fingers of, but this result made me smile!
Shot Info:
iso 200 - 1/640 - f14 - 105mm

Went to one of the local photography stores today. One i never visit for buying because its the most expensive in my city. But this MB-D80 grip was on sale i guess, cheapest i could find in, well the whole country ;)
Fitted the grip on the D90, damn its big, but what a good hold i have now on the D90.
In the near future aquire a second battery for more juice and it's complete.

Winter in Holland

Snow, Snow and even More Snow.
Seems Nature can't get enough this winter.
But for us photographers....
Nice shots to be taken, but beware snow and dslr's don't mix that good.
Snow gives a new way of taking pictures, metering is more difficult.

Panagor 135mm f2.8 MF / Nikon f-mount
Bought this Manual Focus trough Marktplaats for the small amount of 20 euro.

On the D90 i have to adjust everything, metering, diafragma is not a big problem. Manual focussing is the hard part.
The bokeh seems sweet, the CA is visable when @ 100% crop(only tested f2.8).
When i have something wich i think is a good picture from this lens i'll show it here.
